Equipment for rent

Birth pool in a box rental. $250 from week 36 until birth

These are our new professional tubs! We have one in each size, the  mini and the regular. For many years I used primarily the La Bassine but  in recent years I've noticed the quality of them going downhill. Tubs  that used to last 10 to 15 births were only lasting 3 or 4 births.   The birth pool in a box has a 4 year/40 birth warranty. I also love the  snug custom fit liner, the seat, the many handles, and the cup holder.

They are also  slightly deeper than the La Bassine, which means greater comfort and  pain relief for the laboring parent. The regular one has room for a  partner to sit inside or a birth stool to be placed inside and lots of  room to move. The smaller mini is perfect for smaller birthing rooms and  for birthing people who don't want all of that extra space around them  and yet there is ample room to move around.

There is also a strap called "my anchor" that can be used during  pushing instead of the usual "tug of war" technique that has caused many  a birth worker to hurt their backs, arms, or shoulders. We used the  mini at our last birth and I was quite impressed with it!

TENS Unit $20 for 4 weeks

TENS is a drug-free kind of pain relief often used by women in early  labour. TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.

A maternity TENS machine consists of a battery-powered, hand-held  controller connected by fine leads to four flat pads. The pads are  covered in a firm gel that helps them stick to your back.

The machine sends small, safe pulses of electrical current via the leads  to the pads on your skin. The pulses pass through your skin and into  your muscles and tissues. This gives you a gentle tingling or buzzing  sensation, which may be stronger or weaker, depending on the setting level.
